The building consists of a large rectangle with the main rooms on the North side. The atrium with it's architecturally decorated walls on a black background at the lower half and white background above that, which are particularly good.

Then you come to the triclinium, in which the 'deer' statue was found that gives the house it's name. Next is the cubiculum, with red painted walls and a marble floor, followed by a room with a vaulted ceiling in which the statue of a Satyr with a wineskin was found.
On the other side of the garden is the grand triclinium which has two rooms either side decorated with marble. After which is the pergola also with two rooms either side, one of which contained the statue of a drunken Hercules.
