Me on Stage in the Theatre Complex

This is me on the stage(Scaena) hamming it up as usual. The back wall of the stage would have been made of tufa blocks and reached a height to match that of the seated area(Cavea).

Heads at Side of Stage

To the left of the stage are three marble theatrical masks which were on the ornate decoration of the stage façade. These can be seen to the left and in more detail below.

View from the Top of the Seating

To the left is a view of the stage from the seating looking down the steps. Just in front of the stage is the pit(Orchestra) which was, later on in it's history, used for mock nautical battles and plays with aquatic themes. It was flooded using the two cisterns, formerly shops, next to the main entrance. Delimited by a marble transom, it would originally have been tiled with coloured marble and has two exits(Vomitoria) to either side.
